In 1991 a local fireplace sub-contractor in Greensboro, North Carolina saw a mantel surround that homebuilders Rick and Randy Trotter had made for a home they had built.  He was so impressed with the quality and eye appeal that he asked them to consider building mantels for him.  Eventually they agreed and what soon became RL Trotter began.
  
Sixteen years later RL Trotter Woodworking has become one of the fastest growing and most respected woodworking companies in the southeast.  For the years 2004 through 2005 sales increased over 100%.  In 2006 we built nearly 12,000 mantel surrounds, shelves, entertainment centers and bookcases achieving positive growth in a decling homebuiler market.
